CVE-2024-48904Network attack vector

Unauthenticated root code execution via unvalidated REST input

Published Oct 22, 2024 · Updated Oct 22, 2024

Command injection in Trend Micro Cloud Edge 5.6SP2 and 7.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through its REST API. The REST API on TCP port 8443 passes a user-supplied string to a system call without properly validating command characters. Authentication is not required, and successful exploitation executes code as root on the appliance.
