CVE-2024-48866Network attack vector

System-state alteration via mishandled hex URL encoding

Published Dec 6, 2024 · Updated Dec 6, 2024

Improper URL-encoding handling in QTS 5.1.x and 5.2.x and QuTS hero h5.1.x and h5.2.x allows remote attackers to alter system state. QNAP identifies hex-encoded URL input as the trigger but has not disclosed the affected component or the incorrect decoding or validation operation. Exploitation requires a network-reachable service, no privileges, passive user interaction, and additional attack conditions; the published impact is limited to low-integrity modification, not data disclosure or service interruption.
