Unauthenticated code execution via unvalidated export path
Published Jun 25, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Path traversal in WhatsUp Gold before 2023.1.3 allows remote attackers to execute code through an unauthenticated report request. GetFileWithoutZip combines an attacker-controlled WebExportDirectory with Data\ExportedReports and writes attacker-selected report content and extension without validating the destination path. Access to the NmAPI report service is sufficient to place an ASPX file under the web root and execute it as iisapppool\nmconsole.
