Account takeover via nonexpiring JWT acceptance
Published Oct 11, 2024 · Updated Oct 11, 2024
Insufficient session expiration in sbondCo Watcharr 1.43.0 allows remote attackers to take over accounts by reusing stale JWTs. The Change Password function accepts previously issued JWTs without enforcing expiration, so a captured victim token remains usable to replace that account's password. Exploitation requires possession of a victim's JWT and grants control of that Watcharr account; public sources do not substantiate host-level code execution.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
