Firmware disclosure via unauthenticated update downloads
Published Oct 14, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Hideez Key Firmware 2.7.8.3 allows remote attackers to download firmware images from the update service. Update URLs embedded in the com.hideez client identify JSON manifests on update.hideez.com, which returns manifests and linked images without authenticating requests. Requests require neither an account nor a device identifier, exposing unreleased firmware for offline analysis; the report does not show alteration of hosted updates or devices.
