Firmware disclosure via unauthenticated update manifest
Published Oct 11, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Sampmax Firmware 2.1.2.7 allows remote attackers to download firmware through an exposed update manifest. The HomeMax GatewayInfoPresenter embeds the address of binupd.js, and the firmware server returns that manifest without verifying a device or user identity. Unauthenticated network access reveals direct firmware URLs and permits retrieval of unpublished images for offline analysis.
