Firmware disclosure via unauthenticated update endpoint
Published Oct 11, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Missing authentication in Shelly Home Firmware 1.0.4 allows remote attackers to retrieve firmware files and version metadata. An unauthenticated GET request to the firmware-list API returns direct download URLs and versions without verifying a device or user identity. Network access is sufficient to obtain firmware for offline analysis, but the cited evidence does not show device compromise or update installation.
