Authenticated code execution via unrestricted avatar upload
Published Oct 28, 2024 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in SourceCodester Prison Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP code. The avatar handlers in /Admin/add-admin.php and /Employee/edit-photo.php accept an attacker-supplied PHP file without validating its type and store it in a web-accessible location. Any authenticated administrator or employee can request the stored file directly, executing it with the web application's privileges and enabling server compromise.
