Firmware disclosure via unauthenticated download URLs
Published Oct 24, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Incorrect authorization in SYLVANIA Smart Home Firmware 3.0.3 allows attackers to download firmware without authentication. Strings in the Android APK's Api2Service and Env classes expose components that construct a firmware.txt URL, whose device identifiers and file links permit retrieval of 115 firmware images. Exploitation requires reverse-engineering the APK and sending unauthenticated requests to the update server; the demonstrated consequence is firmware disclosure for offline analysis.
