Remote code execution via unsanitized HEIC filename
Published Oct 24, 2024 · Updated Dec 19, 2024
OS command injection in MaestroError php-heic-to-jpg 1.0.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted HEIC filename. HeicToJpg.php concatenates the user-controlled source path into a shell command without neutralizing shell metacharacters, so filename substitutions are evaluated by the shell. Reachability requires an application upload path that passes the attacker-supplied filename to the converter; commands run with the hosting PHP service's privileges.
