CVE-2024-48463Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via unvalidated Markdown links

Published Nov 4, 2024 · Updated Jan 16, 2025

Improper link validation in Bruno before 1.29.1 allows remote attackers to execute local commands through a crafted Markdown link. The Markdown docs viewer passes every new-window URL to Electron shell.openExternal, allowing non-HTTP schemes and local paths to reach operating-system handlers. A user must open attacker-controlled documentation and activate the link; the result is command or application execution with the user's privileges.
