CVE-2024-48322Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated account takeover via time-derived temporary passwords

Published Nov 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

A password-reset race in Run.codes 1.5.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts via concurrent recovery requests. UsersController.php derives each temporary password as SHA-1 of the current Unix time plus a fixed application salt, so same-second requests for two accounts receive an identical password. Any account and control of its email inbox are required to learn that shared temporary password, which can then authenticate to the victim account.
