Unauthenticated file upload via media API
Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Cockpit CMS 0.5.5 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files via POST requests to /media/api. The /media/api handler accepts POST-supplied files without restricting dangerous file types and stores them on the server. No authentication or user interaction is required, and a reachable deployment permits attacker-controlled content to compromise the host and dependent infrastructure.
