CVE-2024-48208Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated connection termination via MLSD buffer over-read

Published Oct 24, 2024 · Updated Oct 28, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Pure-FTPd before 1.0.52 allows remote authenticated users to terminate their own FTP control connection. In ls.c, domlsd() advances the base pointer while scanning MLSD option text without first checking for the command buffer's terminating null byte, so a long crafted argument drives the read beyond that buffer. An FTP login and an oversized MLSD command are required; upstream analysis reports no server-wide security impact beyond closing that user's connection.
