Remote code execution via unsafe node deserialization
Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Unsafe deserialization in Chainer 7.8.1.post1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through ChainerMN node traffic. The chainermn/communicators/_communication_utility.py component deserializes attacker-supplied serialized payloads exchanged between distributed nodes without validating their contents. Exploitation requires network reachability to the affected MPI communication path, needs no authentication or user interaction, and runs code with the Chainer process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
