CVE-2024-48192Public exploit

Root access via hard-coded login credentials

Published Oct 17, 2024 · Updated Oct 17, 2024

Hard-coded root credentials in Tenda G3 15.01.0.5(2848_755)_EN allow attackers to authenticate as root through a network login service. The firmware stores the same root credential in /etc_ro/shadow, so a value recovered from one firmware image remains valid on affected devices. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access and low privileges; successful login grants control of router data, configuration, and services.
