CVE-2024-48142Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Chat data exfiltration via persistent prompt injection

Published Oct 24, 2024 · Updated Oct 25, 2024

Prompt injection in Monica 2.4.0 allows remote attackers to exfiltrate a user's past and future AI-assistant conversations. A crafted message leaves a persistent instruction in the chatbox that sends existing and subsequent conversation content to an attacker-controlled site. CISA's assessment requires neither authentication nor user interaction, and the documented consequence is chat-data disclosure rather than code execution.
