Authenticated code execution via template path traversal
Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Path traversal in PluXml before 5.8.16 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through the theme template editor. The editor builds a filename from unchecked template and tpl parameters, allowing traversal outside the theme directory and arbitrary file reads or writes. Administrator access to the back-office is required; overwriting a web-executable PHP file grants code execution in the web server context.
