CVE-2024-48126Network attack vector

Unauthorized service access via hard-coded credentials

Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Mar 18, 2025

Hard-coded credentials in Smiths Detection HI-SCAN 6040i Hitrax allow remote attackers to gain unauthorized service access. Hitrax software on every component of the X-ray management LAN accepts standard service and maintenance logins whose password pattern resembles credentials printed in the technical manual. Access requires reachability to the X-ray management network and knowledge or successful guessing of the credentials, after which unauthorized service and maintenance access is granted.
