CVE-2024-48121Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Credential disclosure via cleartext GIOP transmission

Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Feb 3, 2025

Cleartext credential transmission in the affected Smiths Detection HI-SCAN 6040i Hitrax build allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read credentials. The Hitrax GIOP communication path sends user credentials without encryption, exposing them to interception on the X-ray management network. Access to that network and a low-privileged position are required; the demonstrated consequence is credential disclosure only.
