CVE-2024-4812Network attack vector

Stored cross-site scripting via user Description

Published Jun 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Stored cross-site scripting in Katello and Red Hat Satellite allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript via a user Description field. The user Description value is stored without effective neutralization and later rendered by pages such as Host Collections, causing the browser to interpret attacker-supplied script. Exploitation requires permission to modify a user description and a separate user to open an affected page, exposing data and actions available in that user's web session.
