Local code execution via TextShaping.dll search hijack
Published Feb 7, 2025 · Updated Feb 10, 2025
DLL hijacking in Tally Prime Edit Log 2.1 allows local users to execute arbitrary code by planting a crafted TextShaping.dll. The application searches an attacker-writable location for the absent library and loads a same-named replacement without validating its origin. Exploitation requires local DLL placement and user interaction to start the application; the replacement runs with the victim process's privileges.
