Persistent routing outage via unsupported Service Choice
Published May 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 8, 2024
Denial of service in Contemporary Controls BASrouter 2.7.2 allows remote attackers to halt BACnet routing via a malformed APDU. The APDU parser accepts an unsupported value in the implicitly reserved Service Choice field and enters a persistent fault state instead of rejecting the request. No authentication or user interaction is required on a reachable BACnet network; recovery requires physically power-cycling the appliance, and traffic between BACnet/IP and MS/TP remains interrupted until then.
