CVE-2024-47874Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service outage via unbounded multipart field buffering

Published Oct 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Kludex Starlette before 0.40.0 allows remote attackers to crash or stall services via oversized multipart fields. MultiPartParser treats parts without a filename as text fields and repeatedly appends their bytes without a size limit, causing excessive copying and memory growth. The application must parse attacker-supplied multipart forms; concurrent requests can force swapping, halt processing, or trigger an out-of-memory process termination.
