CVE-2024-47820Public exploit

Authenticated file disclosure via unchecked path joins

Published Nov 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 18, 2024

Path traversal in MarkUs before 2.4.8 allows remote authenticated users with instructor access to read server files through download routes. Four controller download actions join an untrusted file_name parameter to application directories and pass the result to Rails file-sending helpers without containing the resolved path. An instructor account and readable target file are required; exposure is limited to files accessible to the MarkUs server process.
