Privilege escalation via unsanitized stored dictionary names
Published Oct 22, 2024 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Stored XSS in Umbraco CMS 14.0.0 through 14.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to run script in a backoffice user’s browser. The Dictionary section stores a crafted dictionary name without neutralizing script-related HTML before rendering it in the backoffice. Dictionary access and interaction by a higher-privileged user are required; the resulting session can expose protected content or grant administrator access.
