CVE-2024-47818Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated file deletion via unsanitized sync directory

Published Oct 7, 2024 · Updated Oct 8, 2024

Path traversal in Saltcorn before 1.0.0-beta.16 allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary server files. The sync/clean_sync_dir route joins the unsanitized dir_name POST value beneath the sync directory and passes the result to recursive, forced fs.rm deletion. Any logged-in role with a valid session and CSRF token can traverse outside that directory and remove files, interrupting dependent services.
