CVE-2024-47774

Application crash via AVI subtitle length overflow

Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in GStreamer gst-plugins-good before 1.24.10 allows local users to crash applications via a crafted AVI subtitle chunk. The gst_avi_subtitle_parse_gab2_chunk function adds 17 to an untrusted 32-bit name_length without first bounding it, so the check can wrap and a later offset reads past the mapped buffer. Processing a malicious AVI file is sufficient; the upstream advisory confirms application crashes, and the research advisory reports information disclosure as an additional impact.
