Browser script execution via unescaped MOTD fields
Published Oct 4, 2024 · Updated Oct 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Minecraft MOTD Parser before 1.0.6 allows remote attackers to inject HTML through a crafted server MOTD. HtmlGenerator inserts MotdItem color and text values into span styles and HTML content without validating or escaping them. A consuming website must query attacker-controlled MOTD data and render the generated HTML, which executes injected script in visitors' browsers under the site's origin.
