Configuration disclosure via unfiltered environment overrides
Published Oct 3, 2024 · Updated Oct 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Backstage before 0.3.75 allows remote attackers to read backend or secret configuration through the frontend. The readFrontendConfig function appended APP_CONFIG_* values directly to frontend configuration instead of applying schema.process frontend-visibility filtering. Exposure requires an affected deployment to supply sensitive values through APP_CONFIG_* environment variables; the reported consequence is limited to confidentiality loss.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
