Kernel memory corruption via Kirin PCIe slot overflow
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Linux 5.16 and later before branch fixes allows local users to corrupt memory during Kirin PCIe port parsing. kirin_pcie_parse_port() increments num_slots before enforcing the gpio_id_reset array limit, allowing the next parsed slot to index beyond MAX_PCI_SLOTS. Reachability requires the Kirin PCIe controller path and enough parsed ports to reach the fixed-size boundary; no demonstrated exploit is documented.
