CVE-2024-47685Network attack vector

Kernel-data disclosure via uninitialized TCP header

Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026

Information disclosure in the Linux kernel allows remote attackers to read uninitialized kernel data from IPv6 TCP reset packets. The nf_reject_ip6_tcphdr_put function appends a TCP header without clearing it, causing four uninitialized reserved bits to enter each generated reset. Exposure requires an affected kernel to generate an IPv6 TCP reset through the Netfilter reject path; each response discloses only those four bits.
