CVE-2024-47681

System crash via unchecked HE capability pointer

Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

A NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel mt7996 Wi-Fi driver allows local users to crash the system while adding a station interface. mt7996_mcu_sta_bfer_he fails to reject a null HE PHY capability pointer before reading its capability data during beamforming setup. Reachability requires the mt7996 driver and compatible wireless hardware; the bounded reported consequence is a kernel crash.
