CVE-2024-47671Public exploit

Kernel-memory disclosure via uninitialized USBTMC transfer buffer

Published Oct 9, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Information disclosure in the Linux kernel usbtmc driver allows local users to expose kernel memory through crafted USBTMC writes. The usbtmc_create_urb function allocates the DMA buffer without initialization, and usbtmc_write submits an aligned transfer whose padding retains prior kernel-heap bytes. Local write access to a USBTMC device is required, and disclosure is limited to uninitialized kernel bytes transmitted over USB.
