CVE-2024-4767Network attack vector

Private browsing data exposure via undeleted IndexedDB files

Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Data exposure in Firefox before 126, Firefox ESR before 115.11, and Thunderbird before 115.11 allows attackers to recover private data. IndexedDB storage in the profile's private directory remains on disk after window closure or shutdown instead of being removed. Exploitation requires the non-default permanent-private-browsing preference and recovery of both the encrypted files and decryption keys from a memory snapshot.
