CVE-2024-4765Network attack vector

Cross-application code execution via MD5 manifest collision

Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024

Code injection in Mozilla Firefox for Android before 126 allows remote attackers to execute code in another web application's context. Manifest.sys.mjs derives manifest storage filenames from attacker-controlled application URLs with MD5, allowing a chosen collision to replace an existing manifest with attacker-controlled data. Exploitation requires user interaction to add the colliding application's manifest; desktop Firefox is unaffected, and the resulting code runs with the victim application's context.
