CVE-2024-4762Public exploit

SYSTEM code execution via modifiable firmware-update RPC

Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Dec 16, 2024

Improper validation in the firmware updater of Lenovo Accessories and Display Manager before 1.0.5.0.5 allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. The medium-integrity LenovoDisplayControlCenterService.exe trusts modifiable RPC parameters, allowing FWInstaller.exe to launch an attacker-chosen executable as SYSTEM. A low-privileged Windows session and a firmware-update trigger are required; successful exploitation grants full control of the host.
