Stored XSS via unsanitized Markdown notes
Published Oct 7, 2024 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in InvenTree before 0.16.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in other users' browsers. The notes-field path accepted Markdown containing executable HTML, stored it unchanged, and rendered it through EasyMDE without sanitizing the resulting HTML. Exploitation requires a registered account and a logged-in user to open the affected page, exposing that user's browser data and actions to injected script.
