Code execution via Theora extension integer underflow
Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Integer underflow in GStreamer before 1.24.10 allows attackers to execute code when a crafted MP4 or MOV file is processed. qtdemux_parse_theora_extension subtracts eight from an undersized signed length, which wraps through unsigned allocation arithmetic and leaves an undersized heap buffer for gst_buffer_fill. Processing the file is required; the overwrite can corrupt GstMapInfo and hijack an allocator unmap function pointer, causing a crash or code execution in the media application's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
