Cross-site scripting via unsandboxed oEmbed HTML
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Silverstripe Asset Admin before 5.3.8 allows remote attackers to execute script in CMS and front-end browsers. EmbedShortcodeProvider::videoEmbed places the oEmbed html value into replacement content without sandboxing it. Exploitation requires a content author to insert attacker-controlled remote media; the script then runs when administrators or site visitors render the embed.
