Tool crash via oversized audio channel count
Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in GStreamer gst-discoverer-1.0 before 1.24.10 allows local users to crash the tool with a crafted media file. format_channel_mask stores 64 channel positions but iterates over the larger channel count returned from parsed audio metadata, reading past the stack array. Processing input declaring more than 64 audio channels can dereference an invalid enum value; only gst-discoverer-1.0 is affected, not other GStreamer applications.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
