Application crash via unchecked JPEG decoder return
Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Null pointer dereference in GStreamer gst-plugins-good before 1.24.10 allows attackers to crash applications with crafted JPEG input. In gstjpegdec.c, gst_jpeg_dec_negotiate dereferences outstate without checking whether gst_video_decoder_set_output_state returned NULL. A GStreamer application must decode the crafted JPEG and reach failed output-state negotiation; the bounded consequence is an application crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
