Application crash via unchecked sample-table read
Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in GStreamer before 1.24.10 allows local users to crash applications by supplying a crafted MP4 or MOV file. In qtdemux_merge_sample_table, the MP4/MOV demuxer reads stts_duration with an unchecked byte-reader call after failing to verify that four bytes remain in the stts sample table. The affected gst-plugins-good code is reached when an application parses a raw-audio track, and the reported consequence is an application crash rather than disclosed data recovery.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
