CVE-2024-47597Public exploit

Application crash via unchecked sample-table offset

Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Out-of-bounds reads in GStreamer before 1.24.10 allow local users to crash applications by supplying a crafted MP4 or MOV file. The qtdemux_parse_samples function reads beyond the stream->stco boundary through an unchecked offset-parser call, accessing up to eight extra bytes. An affected application must parse the malicious media with the MP4/MOV demuxer; the documented consequence is an application crash, not data disclosure or code execution.
