CVE-2024-47588

Credential disclosure via plaintext upgrade-error logs

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

Credential exposure in SAP Software Update Manager 1.1 allows local users to read plaintext credentials from upgrade-error logs. When a software upgrade encounters particular errors, SUM writes credentials without protection into a local log file instead of suppressing or securing them. Exploitation requires authenticated, non-administrative access to the update server and disclosure is limited to credentials present after the error condition.
