Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted class resolution

Deserialization in Apache Avro Java SDK 1.11.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted schema data. SpecificData and ReflectData resolve class names from untrusted schemas without restricting allowed packages, enabling malicious classes to be instantiated during unmarshalling. Exposure requires an application to parse attacker-controlled schemas or Avro data with specific or reflection readers; successful exploitation runs code in the host JVM.
