CVE-2024-47490Network attack vector

Denial of service via PFE resource exhaustion

Published Oct 11, 2024 · Updated Oct 11, 2024

Improper channel restriction in Junos OS Evolved on ACX 7000 devices allows remote attackers to cause denial of service with MPLS traffic. The Packet Forwarding Engine incorrectly sends specific transit MPLS packets to the Routing Engine, and sustained traffic exhausts Routing Engine resources. Exploitation requires continuous delivery of the transit traffic, but MPLS configuration is not required; resource depletion interrupts device service.
