Authenticated server crash via amplified GraphQL errors
Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 29, 2024
Resource exhaustion in affected Mattermost releases allows remote authenticated users to crash the server through Playbooks GraphQL requests. Playbooks returns detailed errors without an effective response-size bound, so a crafted request amplifies the GraphQL response until the application exhausts resources. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account and interrupts availability without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=9.10.0 <=9.10.2
- Affected versionversion=9.11.0 <=9.11.1
- Affected versionversion=9.5.0 <=9.5.9
