Overlay-creation denial via insufficient upload validation
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Improper input validation in AXIS OS 10.12 through 12.2 allows remote authenticated users to block creation of image overlays. The uploadoverlayimage.cgi VAPIX endpoint accepts uploaded files without sufficient validation and leaves image-overlay creation inaccessible in the device web interface. Exploitation requires an operator- or administrator-privileged service account and affects overlay management rather than the entire device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
