Device crash via unchecked advertising handle
Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Dec 6, 2024
Improper array-index validation in Apache NimBLE through 1.7.0 allows attackers to crash a device through malformed HCI events. The LE advertising-set-terminated and scan-request-received handlers accept an out-of-range adv_handle before it can index the slave-state array. Reachability requires a broken or bogus Bluetooth controller that can deliver the invalid event; the resulting out-of-bounds memory corruption can terminate the host or device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
